The Philippine National Police on Tuesday said they welcomed the action of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in filing criminal complaints against the nine members of the Jolo Municipal Police Station who allegedly were involved in a shooting incident last June 29 which resulted to the death of four Army intelligence personnel.

“It is in the best interest of justice to prosecute those who may be criminally liable,” PNP said in a statement.

“Under the criminal justice system and in accordance to penal laws, the respondents will be given the opportunity to answer the charges against them before the proper forum and in accordance with due process,” it added.

PNP said they stand by the truth and will continue to be in the forefront of upholding justice.

The NBI asked the Department of Justice (DOJ) to prosecute for four counts of murder and planting of evidence respondents Police Senior Master Sergeant Abdelzhimar Pajiri, Master Sergeant Hanie Badirri, Staff Sergeants Iskandar Susulan, Ernisar Sappal and Almudzrin Hadjaruddin, Corporal Sulki Andaki and Patrolmen Muhammad Nur Pasani, Rajiv Putalan and Alkajal Mandangan.

Hadjaruddin,Mandangan and Putalan belong to the Sulu provincial drug enforcement unit.

All cops refused to submit a statement to the NBI and said they will only answer the allegations once a case is filed before the DOJ.
