PNPA cadets, personnel recovered from COVID-19, says official
October 4, 2020
The director of the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) on Sunday said the 236 cadets and 13 personnel who were infected by the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) have already recovered.
“Those who first tested positive from September 8 RT-PCR tests, they have already recovered,” Police Major General Gilbert Cruz said in a radio interview.
Cruz said all who were tested positive were immediately brought to their isolation facility and were released after having negative results.
He added health protocols were observed during their stay in the isolation facility.
The PNPA director said those positive among cadets and personnel in PNPA came from their mass testing held last September.
“But on our latest testing, we already have zero (cases) among cadets, officers and personnel… but we still have persons under monitoring because they had contact with COVID positive,” he added.
Cruz said all establishments and rooms inside the academy are being disinfected.
Last month, the PNPA director said classes in the academy continue through online and they are just limiting and suspending some group activities.
Cruz said they also distributed around 11,000 face shields and 27,000 face masks to their 1,098 cadets and 351 personnel.
Because of the sudden rise in COVID-19 cases, the PNPA was placed under lockdown until September 30 and visitors are still not allowed to enter the academy. Ella Dionisio/DMS
