PNP’s high COVID-19 recovery rate due to mass testing, early detection
June 3, 2020
The chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP) on Wednesday said the high recovery rate among their coronavirus disease (COVID-19) infected cops is due to mass testing and early detection.
Police General Archie Francisco Gamboa said the PNP's current recovery rate is 50.86 percent as 176 personnel got back on their feet out of their total 346 COVID-19 confirmed cases.
As of June 3, twenty new confirmed cases were recorded, bringing the total to 346 personnel infected with the virus. Four PNP personnel died.
“We attribute this high recovery rate to our intensified mass testing among our police personnel including extensive contact tracing and treatment of confirmed cases as well as isolation of suspected cases” Gamboa said.
Among the total number of cases, 148 patients are in quarantine facilities, two are admitted in hospitals, and 16 are undergoing home quarantine.
The PNP Health Service said 675 police personnel were listed as Probable Persons Under Investigation (Probable PUIs) and 717 police personnel considered as Suspected Persons Under Investigation (Suspected PUIs).
Meanwhile, a total of 2,144 personnel which includes 1,260 probable PUIs and 884 suspected PUIs have completed self or home quarantine under strict medical observation. Ella Dionisio/DMS
