The Philippine National Police- Anti Kidnapping Group (PNP-AKG) on Monday arrested six Chinese and one Filipino suspects for their alleged involvement in kidnapping a Chinese national in Parañaque City.
Police Brig. General Jonnel Estomo, AKG director, said the rescue was conducted around 11:50pm at QROI 199 along Roxas Boulevard which resulted in the arrest of suspects Gao Tong Tong, Tian Yu, Liang Kai, Cheng Yong Qing, Zhang Bo Xu, Wang Xuan, and Edgar Ortiz.
Estomo said they received a complaint from the Mariel Maribel, the live-in partner of the victim, named Le Chen, that the kidnappers were demanding P84, 000 for his release.
Police rescued the victim, Le Chen, who applied to be a POGO (Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator) worker at SPARC Co. last July 12. He was fetched by a Chinese for an interview a few days after and was brought to Barangay Tambo for employment.
But Mirabel said she received a message from Chen saying he was forced to work on online gambling and detained by the suspects.
The kidnappers allegedly threatened that if Chen's camp would not provide money, he would be sold to another company.
Operatives confiscated cellphones and laptops from the suspects. They are detained at the AKG office in Camp Crame for documentation and filing of appropriate charges. Ella Dionisio/DMS
