June 14, 2018
Two Chinese nationals were arrested for alleged illegal detention of a tourist in Paranaque City on Thursday.
Chief Supt. Tomas Apolinario Jr., Southern Police District director, said the arrested Chinese national were Xiong Tao, 31 and Liao Yifei, 28, both billeted at Solaire Resort and Casino at 1 Aseana Ave, Entertainment City, Tambo, Paranaque City.
He said the two Chinese suspects were arrested at room number 1612 Sky Tower Hotel of Solaire Resort and Casino around 5 am.
Apolinario said the arrest of the two suspects was made following the report received by the Paranaque City Police Station from Taipei Economic & Cultural Office (TECO) about alleged illegal detention of the victim identified as Chou Yin Chin, 37, a businessman billeted at V-Hotel in Malate, Manila.
“Accordingly, victim Yin-Chin, who arrived in the country as a tourist on Jun 11, 2018 was being arbitrarily detained by suspects,” he said.
“Allegedly, Yin-Chin has a P 300,000 outstanding loan due to his gambling and the suspects are demanding for the relatives of the victim in Taipei to pay Yin-Chin's loan for his released. Hence, relatives sought the help of the TECO for police assistance,” he added.
Paranaque police are preparing charges against the suspects. Robina Asido/DMS
