November 8, 2019

The Negros Oriental police  director on Friday confirmed the arrest of two alleged suspects in the death of radio broadcaster, Dindo Generoso.

In a video, Police Colonel Julian Entoma identified the two suspects as Teddy Reyes Salaw and Glenn Corsame.

“I’m confirming the arrest of two suspects yesterday (Thursday). Our tracker teams were quick to act because of the CCTV footages that identified them, their pick up and escape routes and other details,” said Entoma.

According to acting Central Visayas police regional director, Police Brigadier General Val de Leon, Corsame is a retired police officer.

"He was the driver of motorcycle used in the crime," de Leon said.

Investigators said Corsame is a resident of San Jose Village in Barangay Banilad,Dumaguete City.

According to a police report, suspects were arrested between 5pm to 7pm.  Authorities are still looking for another suspect, a policeman who allegedly is the shooter.

De Leon said the investigation is “almost complete” with the arrest of Salaw and Corsame.

"But rest assured, especially the family and relatives of the victim, your police will help you bring all the suspects involved in this dastardly act to justice," he said.

"My strict order to our men on the ground is to leave no stone unturned and make it quick,” De Leon added.

In a statement, De Leon said they are looking into three possible motive on the killing of Generoso.

“Reportedly, he was a hard-hitting radio broadcaster. He filed his candidacy for mayor but was declared a nuisance candidate in the 2016 election,” he said.

De Leon said investigators were also looking into information the victim was embroiled with a family land dispute.

“I have ordered a thorough investigation of this case. All angles will be looked into to determine the motive of this attack against Dindo Generoso,” de Leon said.

Generoso was shot inside his vehicle while he was on his way for his morning radio program.

Presidenital Task Force on Media Security chief Undersecretary Joel Sy Egco said Generoso was an anchor for development programs of the local government, including a controversial reclamation project that was halted by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources last week.

His radio program, Bai Radio, is reportedly sponsored by the City Government of Dumaguete as an extension of its public information extension office.  Ella Dionisio/DMS
