Police creates special task group to investigate mayor’s death
December 4, 2020
A special investigation task group (SITG) was created on Friday after the killing of Los Baños Mayor Ceasar Perez.
Col. Serafin Petalio II, Laguna police provincial director, said SITG Perez was created to speed up the investigation and arrest of the suspects involved in the death of Perez last Thursday evening inside the municipal hall.
“A ‘Special Investigation Task Group (SITG) Perez’ has been created to expedite the investigation and hunt down the person behind the incident,” Petalio said.
The SITG was created following the order of Philippine National Police chief General Debold Sinas.
Sinas told the police to “exhaust all means to get to the bottom of the case and serve justice to the slain local executive”.
Investigators are reviewing all surveillance video footages recorded by security cameras installed around the Los Baños municipal complex and surrounding establishments.
They are also establishing the movements of Perez before and during the shooting to possibly gather more evidence that will assist in the investigation. Ella Dionisio/DMS
