Police lieutenant, friend arrested for drinking in inflatable pool

A police lieutenant and a companion was arrested on Tuesday for drinking in an inflatable pool outside his residence in Caloocan City.

The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) said arrestedwere Police Lieutenant Arnel Ancheta, 41, member of the Police Security and Protection Group (PSPG) and his friend Bonie Francisco, 32 both residents of Barangay 12, Caloocan City.

Initial report said authorities received a call from the barangay chairman requesting for police assistance regarding alleged violation of the extended enhanced community quarantine on liquor ban and City Ordinance prohibiting drinking in public places and Violation of Art. 151 of the Revised Penal Code as amended.

Allegedly, around 1pm the barangay tanods saw the suspects who appeared to be drunk inside an inflatable pool along the center of the street.

When they approached the suspects, one of them shouted  and identified himself as a cop.

Upon arrival of the arresting officers, they saw the duo and arrested them.

The suspects were brought to Caloocan City Medical Center for medical examination and alcohol test before they were turned over to the Caloocan Police Station Investigation Unit for proper disposition of the case.

"Nobody is excused from the laws being implemented especially as we face this health crisis. The internal cleansing effort of the PNP subsists despite the stringent call of duty we carry in the frontlines,” said NCRPO chief Police Major General Debold Sinas said. Ella Dionisio/DMS
