Police looking into killing of PCSO board secretary

July 31, 2020

Police on Friday said they are checking the background of the slain board secretary of Philippine Charity Sweepstake Office (PCSO), who is also a retired cop, to determine the possible motive for his death.

Wesley Barayuga was shot dead at 4;30 pm Thursday as he was on his way home.

Col. Hector Grijaldo Jr., Mandaluyong police chief, told a radio interview  Barayuga is a retired police general from Western Visayas.

Grijaldo said it is also possible his killing could be work-related.

“Our victim is the board secretary of PCSO… maybe there are contracts or gambling operators who were not allowed to operate,” Grijaldo said.

“Right now we will be coordinating with other law enforcement agencies to check other things related to his work,” he added.

As for the CCTV footage, Grijaldo said they are eyeing the vehicle in front of the victim’s car during the incident as conduit of the suspects.

He said two motorcycles were seen in the area.

“There is also a light brown vehicle which slowed down or blocked the victim’s car and it has no plate number. It was hit by the car of Mr. Barayuga during the attack but it was not reported … so we are looking at the possibility that this is a conduit of the suspects,” he said.

Grijaldo added that the suspects  move looks like they are hired killers.

“The killing of the victim was planned,” he said.

Grijhaldo said the investigation is ongoing. DMS
