Police making sure no looting in areas hit by ”Rolly”
November 4, 2020
Cops assigned in areas affected by Super Typhoon ''Rolly'' are ensuring there will be no looting in their area, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said on Wednesday.
“Right now, we are happy to report and we are thankful to the public that there are no looting incidents reported,” Lt. Gen. Cesar Hawthorne Binag, PNP deputy chief for operations, told reporters.
Binag said policemen are patrolling areas vacated by the people when ''Rolly'' made landfall on Sunday.
“There are patrols in areas vacated so that we will know if there are looting and theft incidents,” he said.
“We hope people will cooperate and will not take advantage (of the situation),” he added.
Binag said cops are also securing the families who are staying in evacuation areas.
PNP data showed that out of the total police personnel deployed in affected areas, 158 are in vacated areas, 895 patrolling at evacuated communities and 1156 are in evacuation areas. Ella Dionisio/DMS
