Police-military team serve arrest warrant on CPP secretary in Ozamiz City

An official of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) was served a warrant of arrest for frustrated murder and homicide by a joint team of police and the military on Thursday.
Supt. Lemuel Gonda, spokesman of the Northern Mindanao regional police, said Friday the warrant was served to Rommel Salinas, secretary of the Communist Party of the Philippines at 11 am at Bernard Subdivision, City Hall Drive, Ozamiz City.
Gonda said Salinas is under custody of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology. Barangay Tinago, Ozamiz City.
The warrant was issued by Presiding Judge Dan Calderon of the Regional Trial Court, Dingat Island, Surigao City on Oct 21 2013 with bailbond of P200,000 recommended.
But Edre Olalia, head of the National Union of People's Lawyers, said in a statement Salinas had been arrested on May 11 2017.
Olalia said police tried to serve the warrant of arrest on Salinas during a trial at the Ozamiz Regional Trial Court. Salinas and Iglesia Filipinas Independiente Bishop Carlo Morales.
They are being tried for illegal possession of explosives.
Olalia said the arrest warrant from the Dinagat Island RTC was served on May 2017 as mentioned in the affidavit of arrest last year. DMS
