Police officer surrenders after allegedly robbing gas station

BAGUIO CITY -- A police lieutenant surrendered to his colleagues after allegedly robbing a gasoline station Sunday night.

Police Lieutenant Oliver Tolentino  was charged with numerous criminal and administrative charges after taking at gunpoint P200,000.00 from the MCE gasoline station in Purok 1, barangay Dangan, Reina Mercedes town at around 7:45 pm.

Tolentino fled on board a silver Toyota Innova AUV passing through a checkpoint at barangay Nappaccu Pequeño.

Tolentino identified himself to policemen manning the checkpoint but when Reina Mercedes police chief Captain Christoper Danao asked him to turn off his car's engine and ask for his ID, the lieutenant sped away towards Cauayan City, also in Isabela.pher

Tolentino  rammed through roadblocks  at the Cauayan City police checkpoint, said Cagayan Valley police director Brig. Gen Angelito Casimiro.

Sensing that he has no chance of escaping to policemen pursuing against him, Tolentino surrendered to Cauayan City police station, added Casimiro.

Policemen recovered the car Tolentino used in front of the Cadeliña Apartment in P-2 Brgy. Tagaran, also in Cauayan City and found a 38 revolver without serial number, three bullets in the chamber, a fired cartridge of the same gun, 10 bullets for 9mm pistol and one bullet for caliber 5.56 assault rifle.

Tolentino will face cases of robbery  disobedience, violation of RA 10591, city ordinance on curfew  and Art. 151 of the Revised Penal Code. DMS
