The Philippine National Police- Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) on Wednesday said they re-arrested the South Korean suspect who escaped from their jail facility inside the Southern Police District (SPD) headquarters last October 10.
CIDG said Yeong Jun Lim was captured around 12:10pm in front of a bank in Salamanca St., Makati City last Tuesday.
Yeong Jun Lim escaped with Hyeok Soo Kwon by jumping out of the window of the second floor of the SPD jail facility after they ganged up on the duty jail officer who answered Lim's plea to use the toilet.
The two South Koreans also took the duty jail officer's gun.
Hyeok Soo Kwon was recaptured on Sunday morning at a construction site in Barangay Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City.
“They planned and successfully executed their escape by strangling and mauling the duty jail officer that night, taking his service firearm, and jumping out the window,” CIDG said.
The duty jail guard is facing criminal complaint for violation of Article 224 (evasion through negligence) of the Revised Penal Code and he will be subjected to pre-charge investigation to determine his administrative liability.
Meanwhile, CIDG said cases for robbery, frustrated murder, and violations of Art 148 (direct assault) and 149 (indirect assault) were filed against the two South Korean suspects. Ella Dionisio/DMS
