Police rescue Taiwanese from alleged illegal detention in Makati

Police rescued a Taiwanese call center agent who was allegedly detained inside a small room at an office in Pasong Tamo Extension in Makati  by her employer Tuesday.

Police also began investigation on the firm, Van Gogh Business Processing Outsourcing Inc., where the Taiwanese was working when the company's supervisor failed to show documents. Eleven Chinese employees were brought to the Makati Central Police Station  for further investigation, according to a report by the Southern Police District on Wednesday.

Police were informed of the alleged abduction by the Taiwan Embassy on Monday night.

Senior Superintendent Benjamin Acorda Jr., head of the intelligence division of the National Capitol Region Police Office, and four policemen went to Makati City Police Station to coordinate with the company's officials to release the victim, identified as Neng Neng Tseng.

Acorda and the operatives saw the victim in a room being guarded by a protection agent and introducing themselves as police rescued Neng.

Asked by police why she was detained at the place,Neng  said she made a mistake where she must pay P560,000 which is equivalent to  70,000 renminbi. She said once it is settled, she will be permitted to go home.

She claimed if she cannot give the amount, her life will be in danger.

Neng said her firm is an online gambling company ran by Song Xin Cheng, a Chinese national also known as Steve Song, who allegedly detained her. DMS
