The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Sunday urged Philippine Offshore Gaming Operations (POGO) operators to report kidnapping incidents among their workers.
PNP chief General Debold Sinas made the statement after a recent incident in Angeles City, Pampanga.
“I am strongly urging POGO operators to closely coordinate with the PNP on security concerns and to refrain from handling these matters on their own,” Sinas said.
He cautioned operators against withholding information from the police on criminal matters involving POGO workers.
Last Saturday, operatives from the PNP Anti-Kidnapping Group rescued a Vietnamese-Chinese POGO worker and arrested three alleged suspects.
Through the aid of an interpreter, the suspects were apprised of their rights under Philippine laws.
However, upon investigation, the suspects refused to cooperate and declined to give their names. saying their passports were taken from them by their company.
The suspects are at the AKG headquarters in Camp Crame for further investigation. Ella Dionisio/DMS
