Police warns violators as San Fernando, La Union goes on ECQ

BAGUIO CITY -- Police warned quarantine violators in San Fernando City, La Union provincial capital,  they will be taken to the jail and face charges.

San Fernando City was placed on enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) from July 21 to July 31 as coronavirus disease ( COVID-19) cases surged.

This prompted the Regional Inter-Agency Task Force to approve San Fernando's request to return to ECQ.

As of July 22, La Union province said in its Facebook account that there are 58 cases, of which 19 recovered and seven died from COVID-19.

Police Brig. General Rodolfo Azurin Jr., Ilocos regional police director, said policemen will be strict in implementating ECQ guidelines especially on social distancing, wearing of face masks and curfew hours.

La Union policemen will also assist in the contact tracing.  “Personnel at the police station (San Fernando City) will be part of the team in contact tracing together with the health workers,''said Azurin.

Quarantine checkpoints have been set up in all entry and exit points of San Fernando City. DMS
