Police will help those filing complaint vs leftist groups on missing persons
August 14, 2019
Police Major General Guillermo Eleazar, director of the National Capital Region police, on Wednesday said cops will assist those who will file a complaint in relation to missing individuals suspected to have been recruited by leftist groups.
Eleazar said the Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) filed cases against alleged recruiters from student organizations affiliated with the New People's Army (NPA).
He added that after the Senate conducted two hearings on the issue, they are expecting more reports or complaints regarding missing minors.
"Because of this hearing the public became aware to what police and military say about alleged recruitment of minors by the NPA," said Eleazar.
"Now parents of the missing minors even former rebels themselves testified that the allegation (against the leftist group) is true. We are now expecting more complaints," he added.
Eleazar said they will assist parents on how they can get their children from the leftist groups. Eleazar added that they will continue to study what legal actions they can apply.
"We will coordinate with concerned agencies particularly CIDG for the appropriate legal actions we can do. We will (assist them) depending on the circumstances available," he said. Cristina Eloisa Baclig/DMS
