Protests “peaceful” so far, says Dela Rosa
September 21, 2017
Philippine National Police chief Director General Ronald Dela Rosa said Thursday nationwide protest is so far "peaceful".
"Yes, so far we do not monitor any violence", Dela Rosa said.
Thousands of anti-Duterte government protesters are set to stage their program in Luneta park while the pro-Duterte administration have their support protest in Plaza Miranda and some in Mendiola.
The Manila Police District said the pro-government rally at Plaza Miranda is about 6,000 while the multi-sectoral group in front of UST led by Father Robert Reyes is around 5,000 and moving towards Mendiola.
Dela Rosa said a report there are six ships carrying protesters from Visayas and Mindanao is not true.
"We have been validating that report that there are six ships rented by the anti-Duterte administration ( group) to gather protesters from Mindanao and Visayas but it turned out negative", Dela Rosa said in an ambush interview in Manila.
He said shipping industries told him there is no such movement.
"They said the volume of their passengers is normal", Dela Rosa said. Alanna Ambi/ DMS
