PSG: Safety protocols for Duterte to continue despite easing of quarantine rules
June 10, 2020
President Rodrigo Duterte's movement, including his attendance to some activities, would continue to be limited despite relaxing of quarantine measures in the country amid the coronavirus disease pandemic, the Presidential Security Group said on Wednesday.
In a statement, PSG chief Col. Jesus Durante III said with the implementation of the general community quarantine in the National Capital Region, the PSG will still maintain all safety protocols and measures currently enforced inside the PSG Compound and the whole Malacañang Complex.
"Events with possible attendance of PRRD shall only be restricted to small group private meetings. Engagements that require large crowd gatherings will be discouraged," he said.
Durante said the screening procedures initially established in Malacañang Complex, including the PSG Compound where the President's official residence is located, shall still be in effect such as mandatory rapid antibody detection testing and disinfection of engagement areas, to include other existing health security protocols such as the "No invitation, no entry" policy which is imposed to all visitors and guests.
He vowed that the PSG will never let its guard down and shall remain on high-alert status until the environment is safe for Duterte.
"Rest assured that your PSG troopers will continue to serve the Filipino nation by providing the utmost protection for the President not only during this COVID-19 crisis but at all times," the PSG chief said.
"We also ask the public to remain steadfast and obedient in following all existing quarantine guidelines from IATF-EID (Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases) and DOH (Department of Health)," he added. Celerina Monte/DMS
