Q3 GDP can be attributed to Philippine stability: Roque
November 16, 2017
Malacanang said on Thursday the 6.9 economic growth in the third quarter of this year could be attributed on the country's stability.
In a press briefing, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said the expansion of the gross domestic product in July to September was good news, making the Philippines as the second fastest growing economy in Southeast Asia.
Socioeconomic Planning Secretary Ernesto Pernia said the Philippines is likely to rank second in Asia this quarter, next to Vietnam's 7.5 percent and ahead of China's 6.8 percent.
Asked where the government attributed the GDP growth, he said, "I think it’s a kind of stability that the country is now enjoying."
Roque said stability brings about predictability, which brings out business and investors' confidence.
"And that can be attributed to President (Rodrigo) Duterte’s administration," he added.
The third quarter GDP of 6.9 percent surpassed market consensus of 6.6 percent. Celerina Monte/DMS
