QC cops want to transfer woman under custody after being COVID-19 positive
May 1, 2020
The director of Quezon City Police District (QCPD) on Friday requested the city to approve the transfer of a woman under custody who tested positive for coronavirus disease (COVID-19) to a quarantine facility.
Police Brigadier General Ronnie Montejo said the COVID-19 patient was pregnant when she was arrested in an anti-illegal drug operation last March 10.
“Prior to her giving birth at the Quirino Memorial Medical Center last April 18, she had undergone a swab test for COVID-19,” Montejo said.
He said on April 25, the result of the swab from the Lung Center of the Philippines Sub-National Laboratory for Re-emerging Infectious Disease was positive.
Kamuning Police Station 10 immediately ordered the Quick Response Team (QRT) to put her in a separate room on the station.
“The QRT is also closely monitoring the said (person) while waiting the request for her transfer to a health quarantine facility through the (QC) District Health Service and (QC) District Human Rights Affairs Office,” said Montejo.
He also ordered his unit commanders to monitor all persons under police custody and be alert if they show symptoms of COVID-19. Ella Dionisio/DMS
