September 4, 2020

Quezon City's police director ordered an investigation on a shooting incident between a lieutenant and three policemen at Barangay Bagong Lipunan last Thursday.

Brig. General Ronnie Montejo said the suspect, Lt. Emmanuel Jovero is assigned at personnel holding and accounting unit of the Directorate for Personnel and Records Management (DPRM) in Camp Crame.

The victims, Patrolman Nurruhudin Salahudin is assigned at PNP- Region Nine Crime Laboratory  while corporals John Mark Forayo and Romeo Tandayu were  assigned at the Cubao Police Station.

Montejo said it appears that the suspects and victims are neighbors.

“Salahudin heard a loud noise outside his room. He went out and saw Jovero uneasy while holding his sling bag,” Montejo said.

When Jovero saw Salahudin, he accused him without any reason and pointed his gun to him,  said Montejo. Jovero told Salhudin and another neighbor, Patrolman Romesyl Destura to go to the comfort room.

Police from Station 7 responded to the reported hostage taking and ordered Jovero to yield but he grabbed his son, which he used as a human shield.

A brief shootout ensued as Jovero fired at the police officers, wounding Forayo and Tandayu.

When Jovero noticed that he was wounded, he went immediately to the comfort room where Salahudin and Destura are and pointed his gun to Salahudin.

Salahudin grabbed his firearm resulting in a scuffle. Jovero’s gun went off hitting his son in the left knee.

The victims and suspect were rushed to the PNP General Hospital for treatment.

Montejo ordered the Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (CIDU) and the District Internal Affairs Service to look into the criminal and administrative liabilities of Jovero and file the appropriate charges.
