Quiapo blast not related to ASEAN Summit: Palace

Malacanang said on Saturday the explosion that rocked Quiapo Friday night was not related to the country's hosting of the 30th Association of Southeast Asian Nations Summit. A home-made pipe bomb exploded at Quezon Boulevard corner Soler Street in Quiapo at around 10:48pm Friday, injuring 14 people. Abella, quoting a police report, said "gang war" was the possible motive of the incident. "The incident is not in any way connected or directed to the ongoing ASEAN Summit," he said in a statement. Abella assured the public security measures are in place, particularly in areas in Metro Manila where the ASEAN events have been ongoing.
