Quiapo blast not related to ASEAN Summit: Palace
April 29, 2017
Malacanang said on Saturday the explosion that rocked Quiapo Friday night was not related to the country's hosting of the 30th Association of Southeast Asian Nations Summit. A home-made pipe bomb exploded at Quezon Boulevard corner Soler Street in Quiapo at around 10:48pm Friday, injuring 14 people. Abella, quoting a police report, said "gang war" was the possible motive of the incident. "The incident is not in any way connected or directed to the ongoing ASEAN Summit," he said in a statement. Abella assured the public security measures are in place, particularly in areas in Metro Manila where the ASEAN events have been ongoing. Abella urged the people for their full understanding and cooperation. (Celerina Monte/DMS)
