”Quinta” maintains strength, now over Mindoro Strait

Typhoon ''Quinta'' maintained its strength as it is now over Mindoro Strait after making landfall five times Sunday and early Monday, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

In its 11 am report, Pagasa said ''Quinta'', which has winds of up to 125 kilometers per hour and gusts of up to 150 kilometers per hour, was located 125 kilometers north of Coron, Palawan or 120 kilometers west southwest of Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro.

The typhoon is expected to move west at 25 kilometers per hour until Monday afternoon, and then turn west northwest towards the western boundary of the West Philippine Sea, said Pagasa.

Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal Number Three is hoisted over the northwestern portion of Occidental Mindoro (Abra de Ilog, Mamburao, Paluan) including Lubang Island.

Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal Number Two is up over Oriental Mindoro, the rest of Occidental Mindoro, Calamian Islands, and Batangas.

Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal Number One is raised over Metro Manila, the southern portion of Zambales (San Antonio, Castillejos, Subic, Olongapo City), Bataan, the southwestern portion of Pampanga (Floridablanca, Lubao, Sasmuan, Masantol), the southwestern portion of Bulacan (Hagonoy, Paombong, Malolos City, Bulacan, Obando, Meycauayan City), Rizal, Cavite, Laguna, Quezon including Polillo Islands, Marinduque, Romblon, and the northern portion of Palawan (El Nido, Taytay) including Cuyo Islands.

"Quinta" is expected to bring moderate to heavy with at times intense rains over Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro, Romblon, Marinduque, northern Palawan including Calamian and Cuyo Islands, Calabarzon, Aurora, Isabela, Quirino, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Benguet, Aklan, Capiz, and Antique, Pagasa said.

''Quinta'' first made landfall at San Miguel Island, Tabaco City, Albay  6:10 pm,October 25; Malinao, Albay, 6:50 pm; San Andres, Quezon  10:30 pm; Torrijos, Marinduque, 1:20 am, October 26 and Pola, Oriental Mindoro, 3:30 am. DMS
