June 11, 2020
The Department of Health (DOH) said there was a record 270 persons who survived the coronavirus disease( COVID-19) on Thursday.
Total recoveries are now at 5,165. The old record in recoveries was 159 set on Wednesday.
In a televised press briefing, DOH Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said this due to improving capacity of the country's health system.
"This is likely brought about by our deeper knowledge on how to handle COVID-19 patients, as well as improved healthcare system capacity," said Vergeire.
"We can now identify the patient earlier, therefore enabling us to begin treatment at an earlier stage," said Vergeire.
A total of 443 new COVID-19 cases were reported, bringing the total to 24,175 cases.
Fresh cases, where test results are validated by the DOH Epidemology Bureau in the last three days, reached 253.
Late cases, whose results came out four days ago or more but were recently validated by the DOH, amounted to 190.
Nine new fatalities were recorded, resulting in total deaths of 1,036. DMS
