Record 740 new COVID-19 cases reported by DOH, total now 23,732

The Department of Health ( DOH) on Wednesday reported a record number of new COVID-19 cases since it began its daily case bulletins in January.
The DOH said there were 740 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total to 23, 732.
Of the newly-reported cases, a total of 452 are considered as "fresh cases", which are results given to patients in the last three days.
The National Capital Region had the biggest number of new cases with 91 followed by Central Visayas with 83. Other regions, which the DOH did not name, had a total of 277.
The DOH said 288 were "late cases", which are results that came out four days or more but were validated by the department.
Recoveries set a new record with 159, bringing the total to 4,895 COVID-19 patients that have survived the disease.
Ten new fatalities were recorded to bring total deaths to 1,027. DMS
