Some nine unidentified suspected members of the New People’s Army (NPA) burned heavy construction equipment in Palawan last Friday.
Lieutenant Colonel Socrates Faltado, spokesperson of the Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan), said the torching of a dump truck and a grader transpired around 12:36pm at Sitio Malanap Interior, Barangay Punang in Espanola, Palawan.
CERI Company owned the equipment.
Initial investigation disclosed that the dump truck was travelling going to port yard at said barangay while the grader was on opposite direction doing road maintenance when the suspects blocked their way, prompting their respective operators to disembark.
The rebels then burned the equipment before fleeing, said Faltado. Ella Dionisio/DMS
