Roque wants De Lima to enjoy long life
March 13, 2018
Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque wished on Tuesday good health to detained Senator Leila de Lima.
This was after De Lima was allowed a brief medical furlough on Monday so that she could have her "liver mass" checked.
Asked if the Palace would support De Lima in case she would petition the court for a hospital arrest, Roque said: "We cannot support. We cannot oppose, it’s the Court that determines but we wish her well because this is now a health issue."
Prior to De Lima's check up, Roque had been issuing strong words against De Lima, such as hoping to see her in jail for the rest of her life.
De Lima has been detained at Camp Crame headquarters since February 2017 as she has been facing illegal drugs charges.
She allegedly received kickbacks from the illegal drug trade inside the New Bilibid Prison when she was still the secretary of Justice during the previous administration.
She denied the allegation, saying she has been politically persecuted because of her strong stance against President Rodrigo Duterte's alleged human rights violations since he was a mayor of Davao City. Celerina Monte/DMS
