Sandiganbayan receives Misuari bail
September 29, 2017
An official letter on the posting of P460,000 bail of former Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) Gov. Nur Misuari before the Davao City Regional Trial Court (RTC) was officially transmitted
Friday to the Sandiganbayan.
Dennis Pulma, Sandiganbayan Third Division Clerk of Court, said the electronic transaction of the original copy of Misuari’s bail was sent to them via mail on September 28 after 11th Judicial Region-Davao City Executive Judge Emmanuel Carpio approved the bail based on his order dated September 19.
On Sept 6, the anti-graft court ordered the arrest of Misuari, founder of the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF), in connection with his six criminal charges stemmed from alleged “textbook
scam” or the fraudulent procurement contracts totaling P115.22 million.
The anti-graft court found probable cause to proceed with the trial, stressing there was no merit in the defense of Misuari and his co-accused that their cases had been delayed by the Office of the Ombudsman.
During the Aquino administration, Misuari had been ordered arrested for rebellion and violation of Republic Act 9851, or the Philippine Act on Crimes Against International Humanitarian Law, Genocide, and Other Crimes Against Humanity, for leading a siege in Zamboanga City in 2013. DMS
