SC turns down Napoles appeal for bail in pork barrel case
November 7, 2017
The Supreme Court turned down an appeal from suspected pork barrel scam mastermind Janet Lim-Napoles for bail in plunder and other cases against her over alleged misuse of multi-billion peso Priority Development Assistant Fund by lawmakers
During its regular full court session on Tuesday, the SC dismissed the petition of Napoles assailing the Sandiganbayan decision denying her bail application.
"The Court found that the Sandiganbayan had not gravely abused its discretion in denying the petition," said SC spokesman Theodore Te.
In her petition last July, Napoles appealed she should be allowed to post bail because prosecutors "failed to present strong evidence." DMS
