Schools are barred from holding curricular and co-curricular activities, except those conducted online, when classes resume in August, Malacañang said on Monday.
In a press briefing, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said this is contained in the the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases Resolution No. 34.
Roque said opening of classes for the basic education shall be on August 24 and will end on April 30 next year.
The opening of private schools will be allowed within the period provided by law and "no face-to-face classes" will be allowed earlier than August 24, he said.
"Curricular and co-curricular activities are cancelled, except those conducted online," the spokesman said.
Among the cancelled activities are science fairs, showcase of portfolios, trade fairs, school sports, campus journalism, festival of talents, job fairs and other similar activities.
The IATF said schools could adopt various learning delivery such as face-to-face, blending learnings, distance learnings, home schooling, and other modes of delivery.
Prior to the coronavirus crisis, most of the primary and secondary schools in the country open their classes in June and end in March. Celerina Monte/DMS
