Senator Pimentel first to file candidacy in Comelec
October 11, 2018
Senator Koko Pimentel III became the first one to file a Certificate of Candidacy (COC) for senator as he seeks to be re-elected in the May 2019 national and local elections.
The filing of certificates of candidacies for senators started Thursday and will end on October 17 at the Commission on Elections ( Comelec) headquarters at the Palacio del Gobernadorcillo in Manila.
Other candidates for local posts will file their certificates of candidacies in Comelec offices in their areas
Pimentel said he opted to file first to allow himself to focus on his personal affairs.
“This is so I can already get this off my mind and be able to focus on my wedding next week,” said Pimentel after filing his candicacy shortly after 8 am.
He said he and his party mates at PDP-Laban agreed to file individually since some are still undecided.
“You can expect around six more candidates for senator from PDP-Laban,” said Pimentel.
Asked who are other senatorial candidates from PDP-Laban, he refused to disclose them.
“Those who are still undecided, we don’t want to force them. There are also others that we advised not to run anymore since we believe it is not yet their time,” said Pimentel. DMS
