Send mild and asymptomatic patients to Oplan Kalinga facilities, Año urges Metro Manila officials
September 28, 2020
Interior Secretary Eduardo Año on Monday urged all Metro Manila local government units (LGUs) to endorse mild and asymptomatic patients to Oplan Kalinga hotels and quarantine facilities if their local isolation facilities are full.
Año said this is compliance with IATF Resolution No. 74 where all confirmed mild and asymptomatic COVID-19 patients are required to isolate in government-approved facilities, except those who are vulnerable or have comorbidities as certified by a local health officer.
He said due to the increase in number of patients being discharged and recovered in the past weeks, there are already 4,000 available beds in Oplan Kalinga hotels and quarantine facilities
“We urge all Metro Manila LGUs to endorse patients which they can no longer accommodate in their local isolation facilities to endorse them to the Mega TTMFs and Oplan Kalinga Hotels which now has some 4,000 beds available because many have already been discharged,” the secretary said.
Año said mild and asymptomatic COVID-19 patients who are vulnerable or with comorbidities can undergo home isolation but should meet requirements by the DILG and Department of Health (DOH).
He said the government has Mega Quarantine Facilities and 31 COVID hotels for these patients.
DILG said LGUs can coordinate with the One Hospital Command Center (OHCC) at the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) which was created to facilitate a coordinated response to the pandemic by ensuring an efficient health facility referral in Metro Manila. Ella Dionisio/DMS
