Sergeant dies in encounter with two cops in Marikina

An Army sergeant died in an encounter with two policemen assigned with the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in Marikina City on Friday morning.
A police report said Staff Sergeant Marvin Balucas shot at Police Executive Master Sergeant Demetrio Magpali and Police Staff Sergeant Edward Yap when they were going towards Riverbanks at 11: 30 am.
Yap was shot four times, including on his right head, while Magpali sustained a gunshot wound in his lower left leg.
But Magpali was able to shoot Balucas, who was declared dead on arrival when they were transferred to Amang Rodriguez Memorial Medical Center, police said.
Magpali and Yap were later transferred to the Chinese General Hospital.
Police are investigating why Balucas shot the two police officers. DMS
