Severe tropical storm moving towards eastern Philippine Area of Responsibility

A severe tropical storm intensified while moving to the eastern boundary of the Philippine Area of Responsibility , the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Thursday.
As of 11 am, the storm with international name ''Goni'' was estimated at 1,545 km east of Central Luzon, or outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility.
''Goni'', which will be named ''Rolly'' once it enters the eastern boundary of the Philippine Area of Responsibility this afternoon or evening, has winds of up to 95 kilometers per hour and gusts of 115 kilometers per hour.
It is moving west at 10 kilometers per hour.
Pagasa said as ''Goni'' moves towards the eastern sections of Central and Southern Luzon, it may bring heavy rains over those areas starting Friday or this weekend. DMS
