Sinas denies defending cops who tried to bring liquor, cigarettes inside Bilibid
October 28, 2019
Police Brigadier General Debold Sinas, acting director of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) on Monday denied he is defending the 16 cops who allegedly tried to sneak in illegal items inside the New Bilibid Prison (NBP).
In a press briefing, Sinas said he did not downplay the incident where 14 cops were caught outside NBP still with their cellphone and two who were allegedly ordered by senior officers to bring alcohol and cigarettes inside.
“That’s not true. What I want is to investigate not downplay. If I’ll downplay (the incident) then I should have not inform you. We are open for investigation,” Sinas said.
The acting NCRPO chief said they will disclose the result of the investigation.
All the involved cops were reassigned at the Regional Personnel Holding and Accounting Unit while an investigation is ongoing.
Sinas said two senior officers of the cops who brought liquor and cigarette inside NBP reported to him last Friday.
“One admitted it but he said it’s for his personal use once he relaxes after his shift… but the other one has yet to finish his affidavit,” he said.
Once proven the allegations were true, Sinas said all cops will face grave misconduct.
“With highest offense of dismissal from service,” he said. Ella Dionisio/DMS
