Sinas’ mañanita “old issue,” says Galvez
July 30, 2020
National Task Force Against COVID-19 Chief Implementer Carlito Galvez Jr. said on Thursday that the birthday mañanita of National Capital Region Police Office chief Maj. Gen. Debold Sinas is an "old issue" that has been resolved by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).
In a virtual press briefing, Galvez said there is no need to "highlight" that "unfortunate incident."
"I believe it is already an old issue. So, this has already been resolved by the DILG...as far as I know, there's already a resolution on this," he said.
Galvez said the Philippine National Police is now strictly enforcing the quarantine measures in the country.
Sinas and 18 other police officers are facing criminal and administrative complaints for allegedly violating the Bayanihan to Heal As One Act and a Taguig City ordinance, which requires wearing of face masks and observance of social distancing.
The Metro Manila cops were photographed during a mañanita to celebrate Sinas birthday at Camp Bagong Diwa on May 8. During the party, they were photographed without wearing masks and standing closely to each other. Celerina Monte/DMS
