Sinas says dismissal of Nuezca from PNP ”ongoing”
December 28, 2020
The chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP) on Monday assured the public that the police officer who shot his two neighbors dead last week in Paniqui, Tarlac will be dismissed from the service within a month.
In a press briefing in San Fernando, Pampanga, General Debold Sinas said the administrative case of Master Sergeant Jonel Nuezca is ''ongoing''.
“Nuezca’s dismissal is now ongoing. The NCRPO (National Capital Region Police Office) and the IAS (Internal Affairs Service) are jointly doing it,” he said.
Nuezca, assigned to the Paranaque City Police Station, was off-duty when the incident happened.
“We are looking at how we can fast track the dismissal. I could assure the public that we will dismiss him before the 30 day deadline,” Sinas said.
“So we just follow through some of our procedures and policies so that we will not be technical…. His dismissal process will go to waste if we will be defeated by technicalities,” he added.
Last December 20, a video, which was posted on social media, showed Nuezca shooting Sonya Gregorio and her son, Frank Anthony, in Paniqui after they got into a heated argument over an explosion coming from a PVC cannon which turned into an argument between right of way.
Nueza left the scene but surrendered to a police station in Pangasinan.
On December 21, prosecutors charged him with double murder. Nuezca is under the custody of Paniqui Municipal Police Station. Ella Dionisio/DMS
