Sinas tells critics to file cases vs him if he violated human rights
November 11, 2020
The new chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP) on Wednesday told his critics to file a case against him if they think he is involved in any human rights violation.
In a televised briefing, Police General Debold Sinas said his detractors have the right to criticize him.
“I won’t stop them. I will just continue to work as the chief PNP,” Sinas said.
After he was announced as the next chief of the PNP, some militant groups claimed Sinas was the regional director in Central Visayas when killings spiked.
Sinas denied any involvement in alleged extrajudicial killings in Central Visayas region.
“I was assigned to Police Regional Office 7 for a long time and I don’t have any case there. If they have complaints (against me) they should file it in court or in any agencies that are supervising the PNP,” he said.
“On the matter of alleged human rights (violation), that is not true. If they have proof, I encourage them to file so that I will answer it in the proper venue,” he added.
Sinas earlier said that being criticized is part of the job and told his critics that he will just prove he is qualified to be the PNP chief. Ella Dionisio/DMS
