Six dead as three trucks collide at Marcos Highway

TUBA, Benguet-- Six died and four were hurt after three trucks collided along Marcos Highway in sitio Bontiwey, barangay Poblacion at 4 am Monday, police said.
Col. Elmer Ragay, Benguet police director, said a garbage truck of the Baguio City government was going downhill along Marcos Highway when its driver Mark Collantes lost control of the six-wheeler and smashed the rear of another dump truck driven by Merson Manalastas.
Manalastas' truck then hit a trailer truck driven Jonathan Frigillana Vargas on the opposite direction.
The garbage dump truck hit a concrete barrier and then fell on its side.
Belly Joe Collantes, 29; and Raymart Lachica, both garbage collection employees of the Baguio General Services Office (GSO) and residents of Irisan, Baguio City; John Rex Hilario, another garbage collection employee from Kias, Baguio City; and Vargas from Aringay, La Union died on the spot.
