Six soldiers wounded in encounter with alleged NPAs in Isabela

Six soldiers were wounded in a nearly 20-minute encounter with alleged members of New People’s Army (NPA) in Isabela province Monday morning.
Lt. Col. Isagani Nato, spokesman of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Northern Luzon Command, said based on initial report the troops of 5th Infantry Division were conducting military operations when they encountered 20 rebels in the vicinity of Brgy. Mabbayad, Echague, Isabela around 5:10 am.
Capt. Jefferson Somera, spokesman of the 5th Infantry Division, said the attackers withdrew towards the northeast direction of Brgy. Mabbayad.
He said government forces are still verifying if there are casualties on the side of the enemies.
Somera said the wounded soldiers were rushed to Isabela Doctors Hospital and Dr Ester Garcia General Hospital in Cauyan City for treatment.
