Soldier, five alleged NPAs killed in Palawan clash

A soldier and five alleged New People's Army (NPA) members were killed in a 30-minute clash in the province of Palawan on Thursday morning, said Col. Stephen Penetrante, AFP Western Command spokesman.
2nd Lt Cristine Leah Matchete, public affairs officer of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Western Command, said the clash happened in the vicinity of Brgy. Mainit, Brooke's Point around 5:59 am.
Matchete said troops of Joint Task Group South/Marine Battalion Landing Team 4 were conducting security operations when they encountered eight alleged NPAs. Robina Asido/DMS
