Soldier killed by alleged NPAs in Iloilo

A soldier was killed after the alleged members of the New People's Army (NPA) attacked government troops in Iloilo province on Tuesday morning.
Capt. Cenon Pancito III, public affairs chief of the 3rd Infantry Division, said the troops are conducting security patrol and information dissemination about COVID-19 pandemic when they were attacked by amed men at the vicinity of Sitio Aguilan, Barangay Panuran, Lambunao, Iloilo around 5:45 am Tuesday.
"Accordingly, a week prior to the attack made by CTGs (communist terrorist group), concerned citizens informed the Army troops about the frequent presence of the NPA conducting extortion," he said.
Pancito said the military encouraged troops to remain vigilant against enemies who do not respect humanitarian mission and ceasefire declaration.
“All other units conducting similar activities related to the prevention of COVID-19 are reminded to be extra vigilant in order to preempt similar incident imposed by the communist terrorist group", he said. Robina Asido/DMS
