Soldier killed, two wounded in Cotabato

One soldier was killed while two others were wounded in an encounter in Cotabato province last Monday. Capt. Alexander Cabales, public affairs officer of the Army’s 10th Infantry Division,  said troops were conducting combat operation when they encountered around 40 New People’s Army members at the vicinity of Sitio Kimampang, Brgy Balite, Magpet, Cotabato Province about 5:10 pm. “Mortar section based at Temporan CAA Detachment in Brgy Temporan, Magpet, Cotabato Province provided indirect fire support and delivered four rounds of 81mm high explosive to the enemy location,” Cabales said. Cabales said the fighting lasted for almost an hour, He said after the encounter the enemy withdrew towards the southeast. (Robina Asido/DMS)
