Military forces have recovered high-powered firearms and improvised bomb components during a clearing operation in Maguindanao last Monday.
Capt. Arvin Encinas, Army’s 6th Infantry Division spokesman, said among recovered war materials includes one M653 rifle, one M203 grenade launcher and assorted magazines and ammunition.
He said the recovery of the war materials was made through information from civilian residents that firearms of Abunawas Damiog alias Bayawak of the Bangsamoro Islamic freedom Fighters were kept by an unidentified person at Olandang Bridge, Datu Piang.
Encinas said following the reports troops launched a clearing operation at the vicinity of Brgy Poblacion, Datu Piang and Brgy Katibpuan, Talayan all of Maguindanao that resulted in the recovery of the war materials.
"603 Brigade recovered three IEDs and other personal belongings when reliable information was relayed to the troops about the BIFF sightings on board a motorized boat in Talayan,” he said.
Encinas said, according to Major General Dela Vega, the 6th ID Commander, “the successful operation was a result of the focused and intensified military operations against the local terror groups in Central Mindanao”. Robina Asido/DMS
