Soldiers recover high-powered firearms after battle with alleged NPAs

The government forces recovered high-powered firearms after an encounter with alleged members of New People’s Army (NPA) last Thursday morning.
Capt. Rudini Bugador, Army’s 10th Infantry Division Civil Military Operations Officer, said the troops encountered the NPA rebels belonging to Guerilla Front 72 at the vicinity of Sitio Asbanglingan, Brgy Abnate, Kiblawan, Davao del Sura around 8 am.
He said the firefight, that lasted for about 30 minutes, resulted in the recovery of an M16 rifle, one AK47 and one Garand rifle.
Budagor said the government forces recovered two backpacks containing personal belongings and subversive documents.
“There was no casualty among the soldiers while the rebels were believed to have suffered heavy casualties manifested by bloodstains at the encounter site,” he said.
