May 29, 2018

The Philippine National Police (PNP) received Tuesday 130 patrol vehicles from the South Korean government under the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) project to boost the anti-criminality and criminal investigation efforts of the PNP.

In a ceremony at the Camp Tomas Karingal in Quezon City, PNP Director General Oscar Albayalde  witnessed the turnover ceremony of 49 units of Hyundai Elantra and 81 units of Starex Van with Interior and Local Government Undersecretary for Peace and Order Bernardo Florece, Jr.

South Korean Ambassador H.E Han Dong-Man and Commissioner General of Korea National Police Agency Lee Chul-Sung led the Korean counterparts.

Also, present during the turnover and blessing rites were Quezon City Police Director, Chief Supt Joselito Esquivel, Jr and NCRPO Director Camilo Pancratius Cascolan.

Albayalde said the vehicles will be distributed to the Directorate for Investigation and Detection Management, Criminal Investigation and Detective Group, Anti-Kidnapping Group, Anti-Cybercrime Group, and National Capital Region Police Office.

He added these patrol cars will be distributed to Office and City Police Offices of Angeles, Cebu, Lapu-Lapu, Mandaue, Davao and Baguio to bolster anti-criminality and police visibility efforts where Korean communities are established.

On July 12, 2017, the KOICA accord was signed between the PNP and Korean Embassy on enhancing the criminal investigation capability of the PNP as the first cooperative project between the Republic of Korea and the Philippines. DMS
