Stocks up despite foreign selling

Stocks ended a losing spell on Tuesday, as the Philippine Stock Exchange index finished higher despite net foreign selling.
The index gained 60.65 points to end at 8,145 points. In the broader market, there were 102 gainers, 97 decliners and 49 issues unchanged.
Volume reached 672.03 million worth P7.81 billion. Foreigners sold P3.58 billion worth of shares while selling P 3.45 billion.
Among most active shares were SM Prime, up 2.1 percent to P36.50 and BPI up 2.81 percent to P102.50.
The peso closed at P50.63 against the dollar from Monday's P50.665. Volume at the Philippine Dealing System reached $668.10 million from $723.40 million the previous day. DMS
