Student dies, three hurt after playing with unexploded ordnance

A student died while three were injured in an explosion inside a school in Zamboanga del Sur on Wednesday.
Superintendent Rogelio Alabata, Police Regional Office 9 public information chief identified the casualties as Trishaeamae Repunte, 13, Jonny Daluyon, 14, Rodolfo Halius, 17, Alonafe Clarabal, 14, students of Comprehensive National High School in Brgy. Poblacion, Lakewood municipality.
Alabata said based on initial report Daluyon, discovered an alleged unexploded ordnance of an M203 grenade launcher ammo at Mt. Sirongan, Lakewood Tuesday
The victim brought the explosive to their school and buried it at the ground, “particularly at the back of Grade 7 room of the school.”
Alabata said according to witnesses Daluyon retrieved it and eventually played it with Halius at about 7:30 am of the following day.
“While playing, the ammo fell into the cemented hall way near the door of the comfort room of the school and exploded, hitting the victims,” he said.
“They suffered different injuries in their bodies and were brought to Rural Health Center and further forwarded to Zamboanga del Sur Medical Center for immediate treatment,” he added.
