September 9, 2019

The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Monday said there is a possibility that the suspect in the recent bombing in Indanan, Sulu pretended to be a woman.

“The scene of the crime operations (SOCO) from our crime laboratory continues to investigate to identify the suspect in the latest bombing in Indanan, Sulu. They cannot determine the gender of the suspect if it is a female or male because based on the first investigation, (the suspect) is wearing female clothing and the recovered head has long hair,” Police Brigadier General Bernard Banac, the PNP spokesman, said in a press briefing.

“It appears that (the suspect) is a woman but the recovered arms looks like for a male. So one of the possibility is (the suspect) only pretends,” Banac added.

On September 9, a suspected bomber died during an explosion which transpired in a military detachment in Barangay Kajatian, Indanan, Sulu at around 5:45 pm.

The PNP assured the public they intensified their intelligence monitoring and security  with the Armed Forces of the Philippines.

“The PNP and AFP remains alert to prevent any possible attacks. The investigation is ongoing to determine who is behind the attacks,” said Banac.

“This is only isolated in the areas of Western Mindanao and those who are living in Luzon and Visayas has nothing to worry about. The treat was contained in the area of Western Mindanao,” he added. Ella Dionisio/DMS
